16. Night Reflections - Whale Tales Sydney 2022

Night Reflections

Artist: Sophi Odling

This work focuses on the balance between day and night and elements of nature – water, earth and air.

There is a romanticised beauty where these meet and a serene energy when together after dark.

Story of Place

This artwork exploring the energy created between day and night and elements of nature is a perfect reflection of Sydney’s Waterfront precinct. Where the harbour’s waters meets 7km of the foreshore’s ancient sandstone, the Waterfront is Sydney’s ultimate 24-hour destination. From morning markets at the Fishmarket or park, to live music in the wee small hours, the Waterfront never sleeps.

First Nations Audio Narrative: With thanks to our Indigenous Cultural Advisors, Aunty Jo Selfe and Uncle Graham Toomey, and special contributors who have generously shared  important stories of place. Listen to the First Nations Audio Narrative here.
