Behind the Scenes with Blak Douglas
Blak Douglas is an Archibald Prize winner and contemporary artist with proud Dhungatti Aboriginal origins. His works are culturally and politically charged, with a sense of sarcasm and a unique vision of Australia’s history and current social inequities. This installation project has presented a timely opportunity to address the dire state of Aboriginal politics in Sydney.
“My piece Whalecome to Country (Shattered Dreams) depicts the unfortunate disjointedness of the Cadigal culture via a succession of misrepresentative falsehood.” – Blak Douglas.
Discover his 2mts Whale Tale sculpture from 11 August to 24 September at Sydney’s Western Harbour.
